VWAP (Victim/Witness Assistance Program)
The legal process is complex and often confusing. If you are the victim of or witness to a crime, the Victim/Witness Assistance Program can provide you with information about the criminal justice system generally and your case in particular. Victim advocates are available to help you prepare for court and to accompany you to court as needed. Your advocate can also provide assistance with employer and school related issues, transportation problems as they related to court appearances you are required to attend, and can help you complete paperwork that may be required during the prosecution of your case including victim impact statements, restitution and compensation forms and other documents. Your advocate will also refer you to other social services agencies as may be appropriate.
